August is one of the slowest months of the NBA calendar, with NBA Summer League in the rear view and the next season still a few months away.
The league tries to stay relevant by posting about Team USA’s journey to the FIBA World Cup, but it had a stray Facebook post on the morning of Aug. 21 that its higher ups may not be happy about.
It seems a former social media employee for the NBA was still logged onto the company Facebook and decided to air out their frustrations for how they were treated by the sports league.
“The NBA overextends it’s social media employees greatly to the detriment of their health and social lives for a salary of less than $50k annually after taxes,” the post read.

The former employee also mentioned working 14-hour shifts without breaks and not receiving health insurance in the first 90 days.
The former employee also called out NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to the over 47 million followers on the NBA’s Facebook account.
“Glad I resigned, no need for a job to get in the way of your happiness,” the post said before concluding with a line about donating to mental health causes.

The post started with the former employee asking how to log out of the account. Many critics of the post have pointed out that it’s odd that the employee works in social but can’t log out, but others have pointed out that there may be Facebook permissions placed by the NBA that make it difficult for the person to log off.
The post was reportedly deleted around 20 minutes after it was originally posted.
The NBA generated a record $10 billion in revenue during the 2021-22 season.
