Former Motherwell star drops three tiers to join Lowland League outfit

Lowland League East Kilbride have pulled off a signing coup with the capture of striker Bob McHugh from Championship side Queen's Park.

The former Motherwell forward has signed a one-year deal at K-Park and brings a wealth of SPFL experience to the table, having also featured for Airdrieonians, Queen of the South, Falkirk and Greenock Morton during his career.

The 30-year-old will be a key player for Kilby as they bid to win next season's Lowland League, which they have won twice before, and push for promotion to the SPFL via the pyramid play-offs.

He scored eight goals in 40 appearances for the Spiders last season as they won promotion from League One via the play-offs, defeating Airdrie in the final.

A statement on Kilby's social media pages stated: "The club are delighted to announce the signing of striker, Bob McHugh.

"Bob was part of the Queen's Park side who gained promotion to the Championship, as well as having played for Greenock Morton, Falkirk and Motherwell.

"Welcome Bob McHugh."

His signing follows the arrivals of fellow ex-Motherwell man Jonathan Page, Stephen Bronsky and ex-Queen's Park right-back Billy Mortimer.
