Former Minister H.D. Revanna, who got bail in the abduction case on Monday late evening, walked out of Parappana Agrahara Central Prison Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
He was welcomed by a host of JD(S) workers as he walked out of the prison. He went straight to his father and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s house in Padmanabhanagar, Bengaluru, from where he was arrested on May 4 evening, minutes after his anticipatory bail plea was turned down by the Special Court for Elected Representatives. The same court granted him bail on Monday evening.
According to sources, all the family members of the Deve Gowda family, including former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, were waiting at the residence to receive him.
Later in the day, Mr. Revanna visited Karanji Anjaneya Temple in Basavanagudi. Speaking to mediapersons during his temple visit, he said: “I believe in God and the judiciary. I have always abided by laws and will continue to do so. I have not done any wrong and I am confident of coming out of this clean.”
Mr. Revanna is expected to visit Hassan and his hometown Holenarsipur, which he represents in the Assembly, on Wednesday, to meet his wife and elder son Suraj Revanna. JD(S) party workers have reportedly planned a grand welcome for him in Hassan.
JD(S) leader S.R. Mahesh told mediapersons that Mr. Revanna broke down after release. “He is hurt that he was framed in the case. The party also thinks his arrest was a political conspiracy,” he alleged.
Mr. Revanna is expected to go to his hometown Holenarsipur. Mr. Revanna is accused of abducting a former domestic help at their house, who was allegedly raped by his son and “absconding” Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, to prevent her from testifying against him.
