Javier Hernandez has opened up on his heartbreak after a tough few years in his personal life.
The former Manchester United striker has revealed he has not seen his children for more than a year after separating from partner Sarah Kohan. ‘Chicharito’ admitted he “wasn't the best father” he wanted to be but was hurt by comments that he was not a good dad to his two youngsters.
The 33-year-old is managing to find form again with US franchise LA Galaxy after a tricky few years on the pitch at West Ham and Sevilla. Despite his previous heroics, he is also being shunned from the Mexico national team and looks set to miss out on this Winter’s World Cup.

The striker, who scored 59 goals in 159 games for United, had previously detailed how the passing of his grandfather had taken a major toll on his mental mindset, which contributed towards his depression. In a recent interview with Mexican outlet ViX, Hernandez described the anguish he was facing in fatherhood in a very candid and honest admission.
"I would love for things to be different, they are not being and there is nothing left but to juice it up, to learn,” he said, as transcribed by the Mirror.
"It is very hard (to be away from the children). I haven't shown it, but these two years people have said and talked about me being a bad father when they have no idea because I haven't posted [on social media] anything, so how are they going to know if I'm a good father or not.
“But yes I have experienced a lot of pain, a lot.” He bravely added: "I haven't wanted them to know about it, but they are the two people I love the most in my life.
“I wasn't the best partner I needed to be, I wasn't the best father I wanted to be. I wasn't a great friend. I wasn't the great human being I wanted to be."
