Former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo faces another delay to Al-Nassr debut

Former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a 24-hour wait to discover the date of his potential Al-Nassr debut after the Saudi Arabian side's league game against Al-Ta'ee was postponed due to an electrical fault at the stadium.

Ronaldo faces a two-match suspension imposed by the FA back in November after the veteran knocked a phone out of the hands of an Everton fan when United played at Goodison Park last season.

FIFA rules mean that despite the ban being handed down by the English body, any suspension given by national associations are still upheld - even if a player moves to a different country - before they have had a chance to serve the ban.

This meant Ronaldo has to sit out of his side's game against Al-Ta'ee on Thursday, as well as the following fixture against Al Shabab on January 14, before making his debut for the club against Al-Ettifaq on January 22. But now the delay to Al-Nassr's first fixture since the Portugal international's arrival is threatening to push back his first appearance even further.

The Saudi Pro League outfit announced on Thursday that their fixture against Al-Ta'ee had been delayed after heavy rain caused an electrical fault at their Mrsool Park stadium.

A statement from the club read: "Due to heavy rain and weather conditions impacting the stadium’s electricity, we have been officially informed that tonight’s match against Al Tae'e is postponed for 24 hours.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to fans and wish everyone safe travels."

If the game against Al Tae'e cannot be re-scheduled for Friday, Ronaldo's suspension could then see the forward miss the games against Al Shabab and Al-Ettifaq, meaning that his debut will not come until the Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al Ittihad on January 25.
