Former Hibs star Scott Allan has returned to football after penning a deal with Scottish Championship outfit Arbroath.
The former Celtic and Dundee United midfielder has agreed a contract for the next two-years - eight months after the club tried to land him on loan. Dick Campbell's men fought Kilmarnock all the way last season in the title race and will be hoping the midfielder can sparkle a big of magic on the team for the next couple of years as they bid to go one better.
The 30-year-old worked with his new boss in the early part of his career and admits he is delighted to be hooking up with him once again. Allan wants to be as successful with the team over the next couple of seasons and get started as quickly as he can. He's delighted the deal is complete as he outlined the key factor behind his decision. Speaking after joining Arbroath, the former Hibs ace said: “I’m delighted to be back working with the gaffer.

“I worked with him at the start of my career, so at this stage when I just want to be back enjoying my football he’s the man I want to be working with. A big factor was staying at home, close to my family. I know quite a few boys in the changing room too who are good lads and I’m really looking forward to playing with them.
“My target here is to be as successful as possible for the team and with the team. It’s going to take a couple of weeks to get up to speed. It’s been a long summer for me. I’ve not had a great pre-season in terms of being at a club. It’s about getting started as quickly as I can. For now it is about getting as fit as I possibly can.”
Allan started out at Dundee United before moving down south with West Brom. He had a number of loan spells in the English leagues as he looked for first-team opportunities before returning north of the border with Hibs.
From there he joined Celtic and again went out on loan with game time limited. A permanent return to Hibs was then made before he was free to leave the club in the summer.
