After seeing minimal action for USC in 2023, a former prized Trojans recruit is headed elsewhere in 2024.
Malachi Nelson—a five-star recruit for USC in the Class of 2023 out of Los Alamitos, Calif.—is officially transferring to Boise State, he announced on social media Saturday evening.
Nelson, 19, entered the transfer portal on Dec. 17—10 days before the Trojans' 42-28 win over No. 16 Louisville in the Holiday Bowl. He played just one game for USC in '23, completing 1 of 3 pass attempts in the then-No. 6 Trojans' 56-28 win over San Jose State on Aug. 26.
The Broncos, long one of the Group of Five's most respected brands, won the Mountain West title on Dec. 2 before falling 35-22 to UCLA in the LA Bowl.

Led by new coach Spencer Danielson, Boise State will return running back and Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year Ashton Jeanty in 2024. The Broncos play Oregon and Oregon State out of conference, and will likely be a CFP contender under the new 12-team system.
