ESPN let another top star go this week in a shocking change to its top NBA broadcast crew.
Mark Jackson was let go on July 31, a month after his partner Jeff Van Gundy was also let go by the Walt Disney Co. (DIS) -) network. The former NBA All-Star announced his sudden firing from ESPN with an Instagram post on Monday night.
“This morning, unexpectedly, I was informed that my services were no longer needed at ESPN,” Jackson wrote.

Jackson started his second stint with ESPN and ABC in 2014, which he took after being let go as head coach of the Golden State Warriors before the 2014-15 NBA season. Before his coaching stint, Jackson had worked as a broadcaster already alongside Van Gundy and legendary play-by-play caller Mike Breen, who is still with ESPN.
And he gave a shout out to both Breen and Van Gundy in his post.
“It has been an honor to sit beside two LEGENDS in the business, who are lik brothers to me, Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy, and learn so much from them,” Jackson said.

Jackson made sure to wish luck to the next ESPN team in his post as well.
Breen will still be on the call for ESPN's top new trio, and he will reportedly be joined by Doris Burke, who would be the first woman to ever call the NBA Finals, and former NBA Coach of the Year Doc Rivers.
