Former Corrie star stuns as she celebrates special birthday 20 years since she joined soap

Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson dazzled as she celebrated her 40th irthday. The soap actress, who now plays Donna-Marie Quinn in Channel Four show Hollyoaks, was unrecognisable from her role as gobby Donna and as killer Katy Harris in Corrie as she partied with loved ones.

Lucy-Jo was gleaming in a gold in a fringed-detail jewelled mini-dress and matching towering heels. She wore her blonde hair in waves with smoky eye makeup and a nude lip as the belle of the ball.

The star beamed as she posed with her partner Lewis Devine, her nine-year-old daughter Sienna who she shares with her ex husband Alan Halsall, and her three-year-old son Carter with Lewis. Lucy-Jo shared a selection of snaps on her Instagram on Bank Holiday Monday as she gasped: "What a weekend! Here’s a few pics from the BEST birthday party!"

She said: "Sooooooo much more to share from honestly the best few days with friends and family but for now thank you sooooo much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! Really appreciate all the messages. 40 really is as fabulous as everyone says."

Guests at her party included Owen Warner, who came in second place to England Lioness on last year's I’m A Celebrity. Owen, 23, plays her on-screen Hollyoaks son Romeo Nightingale in Hollyoaks.

Another co-star Ruby O'Donnell, who plays Peri Lomax, said: "The best night for the best woman." Nadine Mulkerrin, who played Cleo McQueen, wrote: "You look amazing babe!!! Glad you had a amazing time xx" And Katie McGlynn, who played Sinead Osbourne in Corrie and Becky Quentin in Hollyoaks exclaimed: "Happy birthdayyyy! Stunner."

Lucy-Jo shared another message thanking her nearest and dearest for joining her for the special occasion. "What a night!" she exclaimed. "I’m still on cloud 9…"

"This weekend has been a whirlwind, and I’ve finally had a minute to breathe. Honestly I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and amazing family that came to celebrate my 40th with me.

"So many people travelled from a far and it was so lovely to have a good old catch up and we did not stop dancing all night. My Sienna put everyone to shame as she danced the night away until 2am."

It is 20 years since Lucy-Jo played troubled teenager Katy in Weatherfield. Her dramatic time on the cobbles included her forbidden relationship with older man Martin Platt, which led to her murdering her own dad Tommy with a wrench, her diabetic diagnosis and in her departing storyline she took her own life.
