Former Celtic man in 'I'll be surprised' verdict over changing playing style for Real Madrid test

Paul Lambert admits he would be very surprised if Ange Postecoglou changed his attacking style against Real Madrid.

The European champions are in town as the Champions League group stage gets underway under the lights at Parkhead tonight. The Hoops have been in stunning form domestically with six wins from six and have been scoring for fun. They rattled nine goals past Dundee United at Tannadice recently and fired an early title marker at rivals Rangers after dumping them 4-0 in Saturday's Old Firm.

Real Madrid pose a much different threat with questions over whether he should adopt a different style of play against the La Liga giants. But Lambert would be shocked if he did, and reckons the Aussie boss will be relishing this huge occasion as he continues his fine run in the Parkhead dugout.

He told Sky Sports: "I've been fortunate enough to meet Ange a few times. I went up to Celtic last year to watch them training. He is very laid back, no problem. He doesn't get involved in the crazy world of the Glasgow media side of it. I think he has the real temperament to handle the club, which has been proven.

"They've been the best team in Scotland over the last 12 months or so. I think the atmosphere in this game with certainly propel them into that. This is a huge, huge club.

"I always think Carlo Ancelotti gets overlooked in a lot of things. He is the most successful manager going. He has been brilliant for Real Madrid and the clubs he has been at. Ange is certainly going to relish this game, that is for sure.

On whether they Hoops will adapt their playing style tonight, he added: "I'll be surprised if he changes it just because of the way he comes across. He is the manager of the club and has done brilliant for them. Listen, you never know. You really never know.

"Your whole game-plan could be blown out the water within 60 seconds if Real Madrid score and feel you are getting overrun or the wide guys are giving problems. I don't think he will change it but he is the manager and he will do what is right to try and get a result."
