Former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong was on the receiving end of a rash challenge from Manuel Neuer last night, which resulted in the Bayern Munich goalkeeper receiving his first ever professional red card.
The dismissal marked the 38-year-old's first in 867 professional appearances for club and country when the so-called sweeper-keeper raced out of his box in an attempt to head the ball clear of oncoming opponent, Frimpong.
Slightly behind Frimpong's advance, however, Neuer turned his back on the outfielder at the last minute, essentially body-checking the Bayer Leverkusen player, after which the keeper received a straight red.

Neuer's red card on 17 minutes left his side at a disadvantage for the rest of the game, with Leverkusen eventually winning the German Cup encounter 1-0.

Frimpong himself has been the subject of transfer speculation for several weeks now, with the 23-year-old having been linked to a move to Liverpool for some time.
As reported by FourFourTwo, it appears that long-speculated move may have taken a stride towards becoming reality this week, with the Anfield side keen to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who's expected to leave the club next summer.
