Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Anthony Schwartz is headed south for the winter after the Miami Dolphins reportedly signed him to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The former 2021 third-round pick out of Auburn spent two seasons with the Browns before Cleveland waived him from injured reserve in September. Schwartz became expendable after the Browns traded for wideout Elijah Moore and drafted Cedric Tillman during the 2023 offseason. It didn’t help that Schwartz suffered a hamstring injury as well.
He caught 14 receptions for 186 yards and one touchdown in 25 games for the Brown. Most of Schwartz’s production, though, came during his rookie season.
Schwartz now joins a Dolphins’ receiving room chock-full of speed and experience. He has the speed, at least: Schwartz competed in multiple sprint events before he made it to the NFL and he ran a 4.25 40-yard dash at the 2021 NFL combine.
But unless injuries befall the Miami skill position room, Schwartz will likely find himself stuck on the practice squad for the foreseeable future.
