Former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey is back in the NFL.
Winfrey, the Browns’ fourth-round pick in 2022, reportedly signed with the New York Jets’ practice squad, according to KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. Winfrey had previously worked out with the Jets earlier this month.
The Browns released Winfrey, 23, this offseason after multiple off-field incidents. Winfrey served a two-game suspension earlier this season after he was arrested in April for assault in a separate case. Those charges were dismissed in June.
Winfrey was also arrested for assault this past July – which was the final straw in his Browns career – but was not charged in that case.
He tallied 22 combined tackles and half a sack in 13 games as a rookie in 2022.
