Former Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is currently in the running to become the new Bradford manager, according to bookmakers.
Johnson is currently in the market for his next job after he was sacked from Sunderland on January 30 following a humiliating 6-0 loss to Bolton.
He left the Stadium of Light with the club in third in League One and on the back of winning the December Manager of the Month. Bradford are looking for a new manager after sacking Derek Adams on Tuesday.
The Bantams were promotion hopefuls are the start of the season but currently sit in 12th, one place behind Bristol Rovers and nine points adrift of the play-offs.
Former Gillingham manager Steve Evans is the bookies favourite to fill Adams' boots at 5/2 with BetVictor ahead of Hull's ex-boss Grant McCann.
Johnson, who was dismissed at Bristol City in the summer of 2020 after four-and-a-half years in charge at Ashton Gate, is currently third in the running with a price of 8/1 ahead of the likes of Neil Warnock and Robbie Fowler. The 40-year-old would certainly be eyed as a coup in League Two if they can get a deal over the line.
He has never managed in League Two, starting his coaching career with Oldham before moving to fellow League One side Barnsley. In February 2016 he was appointed manager at The Robins where he won 84 out of his 217 matches in charge.
Johnson is likely to bide his time and wait to see if another opportunity arises in the future and could be on the shortlist at Reading should Veljko Paunovic get the sack as expected. Although we understand he is eager to waste no time stepping back into the dugout should the right opportunity come along.
Johnson was tenuously linked with West Brom after Valerien Ismael left the club at the beginning of February but the Baggies moved swiftly to appoint Steve Bruce.
