Former Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick John Ross is ready to attempt an NFL comeback.
For those (understandably) out of the loop, Ross spent the offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs and announced his retirement during training camp, so the team shifted him to that list.
But with Ross desiring a comeback, the Chiefs waived Ross this week and he’s free to join other teams.
The former ninth-overall pick by the Bengals who infamously didn’t work out with Marvin Lewis’ Bengals is still just 28 years old. His recent stint with the New York Giants in 2021 produced 11 catches for 20 yards and one score.
Cincinnati doesn’t figure to be in the mix given the chance to get developmental rookies like Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas snaps the rest of the way, but it’s still interesting to see Ross on the comeback trail.
