Former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez relishing chance to end Tottenham’s Champions League dreams

Marseille forward Alexis Sanchez is relishing the opportunity to end Tottenham's Champions League campaign.

The former Arsenal star is in line to start Tuesday's Group D clash, which sees group leaders Spurs take on bottom club Marseille, though with just two points separating the two sides.

A point is enough for Spurs to reach the knockout stages, and a win will confirm top spot and a seeding in next week's draw. Marseille must win, to join with Sporting Lisbon or Eintracht Frankfurt in the next round.

Sanchez spent three-and-a-half goal-laden years at the Gunners where he played Tottenham seven times, winning twice and scoring two goals.

Asked about his motivations for the game, Sanchez replied: "I have great affection for Arsenal from my time there, beating Spurs every time was a great joy.

"It was very special and they are days I will always cherish."

Sanchez also spoke of his time at Inter Milan with Spurs coach Antonio Conte, adding: “We had a great experience together but he is a very demanding coach. If you don’t give 100 per cent you don’t play.”
