  • Former Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles is on the brink of returning to the Premier League to join Everton .
  • Maitland-Niles, 29, currently plays for Lyon after joining the club on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2023, but he is now set to move to Everton in a £4.2m deal, according to Sky Sports News .
  • Maitland-Niles came through Arsenal’s academy and made 132 senior appearances for the Gunners, while he also had loans spells at Ipswich, West Brom and Southampton.
  • He also has five England caps to his name, but has not played for the Three Lions since November 2020.
  • Maitland-Niles has shown versatility during his career as he is capable of playing in central midfield or at full-back.
