Former 19th century chapel transformed into four-bed house goes on market - and still has pulpit in living room

A historic chapel which stems back to the 19th century has been put on the market after undergoing an extensive renovation. Almost 200 years after it was originally built in 1831, the unique semi-detached property has gone up for sale in Llwyngwril, Gwynedd for £235,000.

The Methodist Chapel was once a place of worship which served a small community in Gwynedd for decades, but in recent years it was transformed into a four-bedroom holiday home by its current owners. Despite its purpose changing the property still retains many of the chapel's original features.

In recent years the property has been used as a holiday let as it is located in a prime position just a few miles from popular tourist destinations Fairbourne and Tywyn.

The house is now made up of four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor and a large open plan living space with a kitchen, lounge and dining area up on the first floor, reports NorthWales Live.

Despite now having a modern interior twist, the property itself is full of character and original features including the traditional wooden pulpit that stands as a central point in the living room.

The same goes for the kitchen, where modern worktops have been fitted into an intricately carved altar, as well as original stained glass windows throughout.

The open floor plan allows sunlight to flow through the large windows, highlighting the blend of old and new inside the home.

Estate agents House Sales Direct say the property would now suit a family or an Airbnb let.

The property was listed for sale on Rightmove on October 28. Based on a 10% deposit and 25 year mortgage, monthly repayments would stand at around £1,358. For more information on this property, visit the Rightmove listing here.
