Forensics spotted outside pub after man seriously injured following 'stabbing'

A pub in North Manchester was cordoned off for several hours after a man was seriously injured following reports of a stabbing in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 30 April).

An area outside Cheers Bar on Middleton Road in Blackley was taped off, with reports of forensic officers being spotted at the scene. Police confirmed they were called to the venue at 2.33am this morning.

The incident is being treated as a section 18 assault (Grievous Bodily Harm) after a man in his 30s was injured, police said. No more details about the nature of the attack have been confirmed at this stage.

Reports suggest that the man was stabbed. No further information about his condition or arrests have been given by GMP. Enquiries are thought to be ongoing.

Pictures from the scene show a row of shops sealed off with police tape, as officers guarded the cordon. A number of police cars and a crime scene investigation van could be seen parked nearby.

A blood-stained tea-towel could also be seen, with spots of blood marked across the pavement. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for more information.
