Forensics descend on Salford park after teenager reportedly stabbed

Forensics descended on a Salford park on Tuesday afternoon as a teenager became the victim to yet another suspected stabbing in the region. The incident, which locals have described as 'shocking' and 'so sad' was first reported at around 4pm (May 31).

Police rushed to the scene, at Albert Park in Broughton, and quickly cordoned off a large area, blocking off one of the main entrances off Great Clowes Street. They remained in attendance for a number of hours, with forensics carrying out fingertip searches and seen bagging up evidence.

The victim, a 15-year-old male, was rushed to hospital by paramedics and remains there currently. Two males were arrested in the aftermath and are in custody.

Crime scene investigators could be seen inspecting various parts of the grassed areas, as well as a bike and pair of black trainers that were snapped on the ground within the cordon. There was a heavy police presence for around three hours, before the cordon was later removed at around 7pm.

It comes just days after two different men were stabbed in Oldham in just 24 hours, one of which was fatal. And less than a month before, an 18-year-old was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the Moss Side area of Manchester, as a biker was stabbed and left with a broken leg following a hit and run in Moston.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday, a woman living opposite the park said: “It’s horrible, it’s usually a quiet park with families and people running" as another passing by added:“I was home at 4pm and I saw loads of police and they wouldn’t let me on the park. I’ve just found out now that it’s a kid who got stabbed, it's really shocking.”
