Foreign Secretary Liz Truss could not hide her disgust as she appeared on Thursday's Good Morning Britain.
The 46-year-old politician spoke to hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway live from Madrid, and they were keen to hear her thoughts on Bernie Ecclestone.
The ex Formula One boss had appeared on the ITV breakfast show earlier on and left viewers shocked with his show of support for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
When Kate asked 91-year-old Bernie if he still regarded Vladimir Putin as a friend, Bernie simply replied: "I'd still take a bullet for him. Id' rather he didn't hurt, but I'd still take a bullet for him."
When the mother-of-two asked why, Bernie continued: "Because he's a first class person and what he's doing is something that he believed was the right thing he was doing for Russia."
Referring to his comments, Kate said to Liz: "It's a controversial position, but it is his position and he knows Vladimir Putin well. What do you make of those comments?"
Liz replied: "I think those comments are extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary."
Shaking her head, Liz continued: "This is a man who has perpetrated an appalling war including the systematic rape of women, the targeting of civilians in shopping centres.
"I find those comments absolutely extraordinary by Bernie Ecclestone. Clearly, Vladimir Putin is toxic, the Prime Minister is right to say that.
"And I find the apologists for Putin, when people can see on their TV screens the appalling things that are happening on the ground in Ukraine, the appalling suffering of the Ukrainian people, I find that absolutely shocking," she added.
