Foreign Office statement as British girl among four children stabbed in France

The Foreign Office has issued a warning as a British girl is believed to be among four children stabbed in France. A suspected knifeman has been arrested after several very young children – including one in a pushchair – were stabbed in a lakeside park in the French Alps.

Local news reports that one of the victims was British. She was a three-year-old girl of English nationality and was transported to a hospital in Grenoble, around 65 miles away, according to CNews. Foreign Secretary James Cleverly confirmed the report.

A Foreign Office statement reads: "Six people, including four children, were injured. If you are in the area, follow the advice of local authorities. If you require consular support, call the British Consulate in Paris."
