Holidaymakers travelling to Cape Verde need to ensure they have had their booster jabs if they are to be considered fully vaccinated. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has updated its guidance for the archipelago off the west coast of North Africa.
Travellers arriving in Cape Verde are qualified as fully vaccinated if they’ve had both doses of the Covid vaccine and a booster jab or one dose of the Janssen vaccine and a booster, at least 14 days before you travel. If you are fully vaccinated you can enter Cape Verde without needing to test or quarantine, but you will need to present proof of your vaccination at check-in for your flight.
Cape Verde will accept a printed version of the UK’s proof of Covid-19 recovery and vaccination record, but it will not accept a digital version. Additionally everyone arriving in Cape Verde needs to complete a Traveller Pre-registration Form and an International Travel Form.

If you’re not fully vaccinated but have tested positive for coronavirus in the last year, you can enter Cape Verde with a Covid-19 recovery certificate showing that you have recovered from the virus no less than 11 days and no more than 180 days before you travel. You will not need to take a test.
All entry requirements apply to children aged 12 and over. Those who are younger are exempt from all testing and vaccination requirements. If you test positive for Covid-19 while in Cape Verde you will have to self-isolate for seven days from the onset of your symptoms, or from the day on which you received a positive test.
If you are travelling between islands you will need to do the following when check-in for your flight or ferry:
- Provide proof that you are fully-vaccinated
- Proof that you have recovered from Covid-19
- A negative PCR test (taken no more than 72 hours before you board) or an antigen test (taken no more than 48 hours before you board)
