Foreign purchasers are increasingly buying American homes, creating stiff competition for younger and middle‑class families who already struggle to enter the housing market.
According to the research titled "How to Stop Foreign Buyers From Killing the American Dream of Homeownership" by Paige Terryberry (Senior Research Fellow at the Foundation for Government Accountability) it shows that between April 2024 and March 2025 alone, overseas buyers purchased more than 78,000 houses in the United States, raising concerns among politicians and housing experts about the future of homeownership for US citizens.
