A car stolen from an elderly couple two days before the death of their son has been found burnt out in a car park.
The silver Ford Fiesta belonging to the couple in their 80s was stolen from Lynton Road, Southport at around 7pm on Friday, December 9. Earlier that evening, between 4pm and 6pm, a Range Rover was stolen from Alma Road. Officers on patrol in the area began an immediate search for the vehicles and an appeal was put out on Sunday.
Merseyside Police said the stolen Ford Fiesta was the only transport for the elderly couple, one of whom is terminally ill. Medication for the terminal illness was in the car when it was stolen. Officers also learned the male victim's son had died on Sunday morning.
