Ford driver dumps car after police spot licence plate problem

A car was chased and dumped after officers noticed it had cloned plates.

Lancashire Police noticed a black Ford Fiesta with cloned plates while driving through Tarleton yesterday. The plates were not just cloned, but copied from a stolen car.

Police began a pursuit of the car after it was spotted in Tarleton and failed to stop before being chased to Southport. The occupants of the car decamped after the car was dumped on Fylde Road.

Lancashire Police confirmed that no one has been arrested after the car was "expertly stung". Writing on Twitter, Lancashire Tactical Operations cops posted: "This vehicle was displaying cloned plates.

"Unfortunately, the fake plates belong to another stolen vehicle. Sighted near Tarleton where it failed to stop and was pursued, expertly stung and occupants decamped in Southport."

One person replied admiring the fact that the plates were cloned from an already stolen car. @stevedouglas tweeted: "Well played, universe. Well played."
