• An article about the impending election for the chancellorship of Oxford University mentioned the candidate and Labour peer Peter Mandelson, and referenced his 1998 remark about being “intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich”. We should have noted that his comment continued, “as long as they pay their taxes” (“ ‘New Oxford chancellor? Who needs one? I’d rather have a working fridge in my room’ ”, 10 November, p38).
