Football finance expert makes Sir Jim Ratcliffe Man Utd takeover claim amid Tottenham deal

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has raised possible concerns over Tottenham Hotspur's recent sponsorship deal following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Manchester United intentions.

Spurs recently announced a multi-year deal with INEOS Grenadier as its official 4x4 vehicle partner. As part of the agreement, their logo will be visible on the dugouts as well as visibility on their digital and social content.

INEOS is co-owned by Ratcliffe as he looks to delve into the automotive industry following a string of successful businesses which registered him as the wealthiest man in the country.

The 70-year-old has recently entered the discussion after he registered interest in buying Manchester United amid their ongoing unhappiness surrounding current owners, the Glazer family. The American owners have recently put the club up for sale which will see their time in charge come to end - which by the time a deal is brokered will see them celebrate 20 years.

Maguire has raised the possibility that should he meet the demands and takeover United, it could put the recent partnership of Tottenham and INEOS under threat.

"It looks like Spurs are now following the approach taken by some of the other senior clubs in the Premier League," he told Football Insider. "I mean that in the sense that they are signing smaller deals on a more regular basis. I also think it’s a good move from the commercial department to have a winter deal with a winter organisation such as INESO.

"If Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is the head of INEOS, ends up buying Man United, it will be interesting to see just how long this deal could continue to be in existence."
