A football club has paid an emotional tribute to one of its "fun loving and kind" players who was tragically found in the River Usk in Newport. Gwent Police confirmed that the man who was found in the water was formally identified as 19-year-old Tom Moreton.
Police had previously appealed for information to find the teenager, describing him as around 5’ 10” tall, of slim build and he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and grey Nike trainers with a green tick.
There had been concern for his welfare after he was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning near the Vibez nightclub in Newport city centre. Mr Moreton played for Croesyceiliog AFC, which has offered its support to anyone affected by his passing, whilst explaining what he meant to the club as a whole.
