Footage shows Nottingham killer headbutting police officers years before murders

• Valdo Calocane attacked a police officer in September 2021, two years before he fatally stabbed three people in Nottingham.
• Footage released by Nottinghamshire Police shows Calocane headbutting, punching, and swinging handcuffs at Police Constable Barnaby Pritchard, causing swelling to the officer's face.
• A public inquiry heard that Calocane, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was refusing his medication at the time of the 2021 assault.
• He was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and summonsed to attend Nottingham Magistrates’ Court in September 2022, but failed to appear.
• A warrant for Calocane's arrest was active when he committed the Nottingham attacks on 13 June 2023, killing university students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, and grandfather Ian Coates.
