Footage shows 'alarming' flooding on A52 due to Storm Franklin

'Alarming' footage shows drivers having to navigate flooding in two different parts of the A52 after the recent bad weather.

Witness Howard Brown was travelling from his work in Derbyshire to his home in Wollaton in his BMW 330d along the A52 eastbound at around 7.30pm earlier this week.

Two sections of the road were flooded and motorists had to wade through the outer lane of the carriageway to continue their journeys.

It was in the aftermath of Storm Franklin but caused lasting travel disruption.

The flooding caused long traffic queues, and Mr Brown described it as 'alarming'.

Mr Brown captured the flooding, and the disruption it caused, on his dashcam.

He said: "I was alarmed at first I would be stuck in that direction, as you can't turn around on the A52.

"I had to commit and didn't have a lot of choice, I could have put my hazards on and not gone anywhere, it was a gamble.

"There was a car stuck at each flooding point."

Mr Brown said he had never driven through such conditions before.

He said: "I can't ever think of a time when I've driven through something like that."

Storm Franklin brought high winds which caused flooding across the county.

Storm Franklin continued to cause disruption to travel and parks across the city were closed on Monday (February 21) and trains and buses were affected.

It came in the wake of Storm Dudley which caused trees to fall in Mansfield and Ruddington, as well as onto a home in Wollaton.

While Storm Eunice caused significant damage to Basford United's Greenwich Avenue stadium, as winds reached more than 50mph across Nottinghamshire on Friday (February 18).
