Foodie shares air fryer 'hack' to make perfect toastie using Christmas dinner leftovers

A foodie has shared her secret recipe for making the perfect festive toastie - and it involves using an air fryer.

TikTok user Emilyscooking showed off a handy trick for using up all of her ingredients left over from Christmas dinner in a brand new video which appeared to leave many viewers wishing they could have a bite.

In the clip she begins with the very basics of a classic toastie by buttering white bread before adding a dollop of mayonnaise and throwing in some lettuce and bacon.

Then, she starts adding the Christmassy filling - including pieces of turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.

Another piece of bread is submerged in a bowl of gravy, placed on top of the first piece as more mayo is added and the process is repeated.

More butter is then spread on the third piece along with some grated mozzarella cheese.

Her entire creation is then placed into an air fryer, with the camera cutting to the appetising results a few moments later as the sandwich is slice.

Hundreds of hungry comments could be seen underneath the video, which has now picked up more than 840,000 views.

One TikTok user wrote: "I am 100% going to do the gravy bread in the middle of my next sandwich! Game changer…"

While another admitted: "I am extremely attracted to this sandwich"

Others however suggested their own additions to the toastie to reflect the festive theme, as one penned "You have a moist maker but no pigs in blankets. What kind of Christmas sandwich is that?" and another simply said: "swap the lettuce for cabbage".

Air fryers have been growing in popularity throughout the year amid rising energy prices, and have been touted as an efficient way to make full meals while using less energy than turning your oven on.
