Gardai are hunting a gang of youths who attacked a food delivery rider – and then hijacked his motorbike.
The victim was hospitalised following the attack in south county Dublin in broad daylight on Sunday.
Gardai last night revealed that the delivery worker was targeted by a group of youths who were on scramblers on the Cheeverstown Road in Tallaght at 3.10pm.
He was making deliveries when the gang forced him off his motorcycle.
The gang then assaulted him before one of them drove away on his motorcycle.
Gardai were alerted and later found the stolen motorbike on the N81, but the culprits were still free last night.
Officers said the victim had to receive medical treatment after the attack and was still recovering from the ordeal last night
Gardai in Tallaght have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
“They are particularly appealing to those with video footage (including dash cam) from Cheeverstown Road or surrounding areas at the time to make contact with them,” a spokeswoman said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
