A RENOWNED folk singer has released a Scots version of a Taylor Swift classic ahead of the pop star’s sold-out gigs in Edinburgh.
This weekend Swift is due to bring her Eras Tour to the capital with three shows at Murrayfield Stadium.
It is estimated that around 220,000 fans from all over the world will attend the shows, which would be a new record for a Scottish stadium.
But as the authorities brace themselves for what it bound to be a busy weekend in Edinburgh, fans are preparing to welcome Swift to Scotland.
One such fan is the folk singer Iona Fyfe, who has released her own version of Swift’s bestselling 2008 single Love Story.
However, her version is recorded entirely in Scots.
“I recorded this with the band in 2021 and always that that I’d release it when Taylor came on the Eras tour,” said Fyfe.
“For years, Taylor mentioned her Scots heritage, so I’d be intrigued to see if she liked the translation.

“With the numbers of Scots speakers rising from 30% to 46% in the 2022 census, it seems like a great time to celebrate the language and celebrate Taylor!”
During her last show in Glasgow in 2015, Swift revealed that she had Scottish ancestry and said the country “is a really special place for me”.
She told the Daily Record: “My dad is super proud of our Scottish heritage and told me that pretty much most of our family can be traced back to Scotland so of course it’s obviously very cool for me to get to perform there as part of the tour.”
