The Florida National Guard is gearing up for search and rescue operations as Hurricane Milton approaches the state. Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Wednesday that this mobilization is the largest in the history of Florida.
Currently, there are 9,000 Guardsmen deployed, with one-third of them coming from other states to assist in the efforts. In total, there are twenty-six search and rescue teams strategically positioned along the west coast, ready to spring into action once the storm passes.
According to Governor DeSantis, these teams are already embedded in potential impact sites, poised to initiate immediate rescue operations as soon as conditions allow.
The proactive measures taken by the Florida National Guard underscore the state's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents in the face of natural disasters. With a robust deployment of resources and personnel, the state is well-equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergencies that may arise in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
