A Florida man was arrested by the Jupiter Police Department for allegedly making threats against former President Donald Trump and U.S. Senator JD Vance on social media. The suspect, identified as Michael W. Wiseman, faces charges of written threats to kill.
Wiseman was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Palm Beach County Jail. Authorities confirmed that Wiseman was in custody at the facility on Friday night, but it is unclear if he has legal representation at this time.
According to detectives, Wiseman made multiple written threats on Facebook targeting Trump and Vance, as well as making threats of bodily harm against members of their families. The threatening posts were reported to local police by concerned individuals both in person and online.
Jupiter, where the arrest took place, is located approximately 20 miles north of Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach. The investigation was carried out in collaboration with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office.
Threats of violence, especially against public figures and their families, are taken very seriously by law enforcement agencies. The arrest of Wiseman serves as a reminder of the consequences individuals may face for making such threats, even on social media platforms.
