Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has expressed interest in potentially serving in Donald Trump's administration as defense secretary if formally offered the position, according to two sources close to DeSantis. This comes as DeSantis is among a select group of individuals being considered as replacements for the embattled nominee Pete Hegseth.
One of the sources revealed that discussions have taken place between Trump and DeSantis regarding the possibility of the Florida governor taking on a leadership role at the Pentagon. DeSantis, who previously served in the Navy as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer, has a strong military background that he emphasized during his presidential campaign.
