The famous Florida dog tied to a fence and abandoned by his owners before Hurricane Milton ravaged southeastern U.S. in October has been adopted by his forever family following a fierce competition.
Frank and Carla, who are also parents to Dallas, a 7-year-old Miniature Bull Terrier, recently added Trooper to their brood, according to a Facebook post by the Leon County Humane Society.
It was "love at first sight" between the two pups, the post read.
The couple has cared for many Bull Terriers like Trooper, including a 15-year-old dog named Dennis who passed in April. Now, they look forward to watching Dallas and Trooper's bond grow.
"Trooper is a very lucky dog. We hope his story has inspired others to look into and start following animal welfare through their own local shelters and rescues, and to remember that there are 3.3 million dogs entering shelters in the US each year. Some of them have stories even more heartbreaking than Trooper's, all of them deserve a loving home, and all of them deserve to have humans telling their stories," the Leon County Humane Society shared.
The shelter added that it received tons of applications for Trooper but they were sure Carla and Frank were the ones.
"Dog lovers nationwide were emailing to inquire about adopting this famous dog who had been through so much. It was no small task to go through these applications, but we're confident we made a great choice for Trooper," they noted.
