Florida reported 72 new locally acquired dengue cases in a single week, raising the state's 2026 total to 368, according to the Florida Department of Health's Week 40 arbovirus report, which covers Oct. 4 through Oct. 10. The weekly increase was larger than the 44 cases in the previous week's report and the 62 reported the week before that.
Most of the growth came from Tampa Bay. Hillsborough County added 51 cases to reach 310, and Pinellas County rose from 20 to 37, an 85% increase in one week. Locally acquired means the person was infected by a mosquito in Florida, not while traveling.
