Floral tributes left after man's death outside Nottingham apartment block

Floral tributes have been left at the scene of an unexplained death outside an apartment block in Nottingham. Police are investigating the death of a man whose injuries were "consistent with a fall from height".

The force was called to George Street in Hockley shortly before 10pm on Monday, August 1. The man received medical attention at the scene but died later in hospital.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward, especially a man they believe was in the George Street area at the time of the incident who may hold vital information into what happened. While his injuries are consistent with a fall from height, there is no evidence to suggest his death was suspicious.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time. We are currently treating his death as unexplained but the injuries he sustained were consistent with a fall from height.

“At this time there is no evidence to suggest his death was suspicious. Our inquiries remain ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to please get in touch with us. We are particularly keen to talk to a man we believe was in the George Street area at the time of the incident and who may have vital information which could assist us with our investigation. I would urge him to please get in contact with us as soon as possible.”

An East Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 9.18pm on 1 August to George Street in Nottingham. The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent two crewed ambulances and one patient was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 864 of August 1, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. In an entirely separate incident on the same day, a man was taken to hospital and later died after a medical emergency in the city centre.
