Wellington Phoenix coach Giancarlo Italiano has leapt to the defence of Ifeanyi Eze, shooting down claims the Nigerian recruit was flopping during Saturday night's 2-2 draw with Perth Glory.

Eze's classy goal in first-half stoppage time helped Phoenix overcome a 2-0 deficit on the way to claiming a point in their season opener.
