Flooding in the south of Pakistan has resulted in the deaths of at least 1,000 people and affected millions more, with 700,000 homes thought to have been destroyed. Speaking on Monday, Pakistan’s climate minister, Sherry Rehman, told AFP news agency that a third of Pakistan is underwater.
The death toll is expected to continue to rise in the coming days during the extreme monsoon rainfall. The UK Government has promised up to £1.5 million in contributions to the global relief effort.
