A BRITISH Airways flight which was bound for Aberdeen airport has been diverted following a “mid-air emergency”.
The BA flight 1306 from London Heathrow to Aberdeen departed just after 9.05am on Friday but was diverted to Manchester.
A mid-air emergency was declared as the plane issued the squawk code 7700.
The aircraft landed at around 10.20am at Manchester Airport with FlightRadar24 data showing the plane making multiple loops over Macclesfield.
A flight update read: “We’re very sorry, this flight scheduled from London to Aberdeen, has been diverted to Manchester.”
A further update said the diverted flight is expected to take off from Manchester at 11.15am and is expected to land in Aberdeen at 12.21pm.
A later British Airways flight to the Granite City which was due to depart Heathrow airport at 3pm has now been cancelled.
Passengers affected by the cancellation are being asked to speak with BA representatives at the airport if they require further information.
