All flights have been suspended at Stansted Airport because of the extreme cold weather, with delays also in place at Heathrow and Gatwick. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of cold weather with ice, fog and snow in places across Scotland, London and south-west England.
Trains have also been delayed, reports the BBC. Stansted's runway was closed overnight on Sunday night to allow snow to be cleared.
A spokesman said: "Delays to flights were experienced earlier due to de-icing of aircraft which is a ground handler's responsibility and safety of aircraft and passengers is paramount. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for current status of their flights."
