Flavor Flav will be celebrating the Olympic gold medal-winning U.S. women’s hockey team for a full weekend in July.
The team was originally invited by President Donald Trump to celebrate their win by attending his State of the Union address. However, the team chose to decline the invite after a locker room call to the men’s team — who also won a gold medal — in which Trump insinuated he would have to invite the women’s team to the address out of obligation.
Flavor Flav then extended his own invite to the team. He shared a post Thursday on X announcing an event called the “She Got Game” weekend in Las Vegas meant to celebrate the U.S.’s female athletes.
“SHE GOT GAME. July 16-19. Viva Las Vegas,” he captioned a flyer for the event, with a photo of the Team USA women’s hockey team in the background.
The celebration will be held in collaboration with women-led sports brand The Gist and MGM Resorts.

Earlier this week, Flavor Flav shared a formal email sent to the women’s hockey team on his behalf.
“I am reaching out on behalf of Flavor Flav. First, massive congratulations on the gold!!” the email read.
“We saw the story about the men’s invite to the White House, and the not quite invite for the women’s team. Flav recently posted on social media an idea and invite for the women’s hockey team to Las Vegas for a real celebration. He always stands behind everything he says and does. If there is an interest for the team to come to Las Vegas and celebrate with Flav – we will figure it out on our end and make it a lovely experience.”
The “not quite invite” in the email likely refers to Trump’s phone call to the men’s team, in which he was heard saying: “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that.”
The president added, “I do believe I would probably be impeached” if he didn’t invite the USA women’s team, which also won gold against Canada last week.
FBI Director Kash Patel, who was seen celebrating with the men’s hockey team post-game, facilitated the call between the players and the president and promised to bring the players to D.C. at the president’s request.
In its statement declining Trump’s invitation, USA Hockey told NBC News: “We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement.
“Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate.
“They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment.”
