Recent heavy rainfall in Oman has led to devastating flash floods, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 17 lives, as reported by the country's National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM). On Tuesday, work for employees and workers in both public and private sectors was suspended in five governorates, namely Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, and Al Dakhiliyah, due to the ongoing inclement weather. To accommodate the situation, the government has permitted employees to work remotely where feasible.
In response to the challenging conditions, authorities in Oman have initiated extensive rescue operations. Additionally, all schools in six governorates, including Muscat, were closed on Monday due to the unstable weather conditions, as announced by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
