Fizik has launched a brand new off-road shoe called the Proxy. The Proxy is aimed at competitive riders and sits in the second rung of the Italian brand's best mountain bike shoe range.
The shoes share the same translucent PU Laminated mesh upper as the premium Fizik Vento Ferox Carbon which is tear-proof and ventilated. Fizik hasn't specced the upper power strap, instead, the closure is controlled by a single low-profile Li2 BOA Dial.
The sole is made from Fizik's X3 fiber composite and has a stiffness index of 8/10 on Fizik's own scale. The tread pattern is classic Fizik so it should be pretty good for walking and there are threads for studs if you need some extra traction on the cyclocross track.
Fizik quotes the Proxy to weigh 346g (size not stated) for a single shoe, making them 49g heavier than the top-of-the-range Fizik Vento Ferox Carbon and on par with many of the best gravel bike shoes.
The shoes are available in sizes EU 36-48, with half-sizes available for sizes 37-47. Personally I am all in for the Coral/Purple colorway, however, if you want something more understated the Proxy's are also available in White or Black.
