Martin Hills (centre) on Dartmoor in the 1990s with lifelong friends Julian and Dayle.

This article discusses suicide. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, please reach out for support. In the UK, call Samaritans on 116 123. In the US & Canada, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In Australia, call 13 11 14 to reach Lifeline. Help is always available.
