Five things coming to Liverpool this week that you shouldn't miss

Liverpool is a vibrant and diverse city that boasts lots of exciting things to do.

The city houses some of the best museums in the country and a host of amazing bars and restaurants. Whether you love, music politics, or football there is always something to keep you occupied.

Here are five things happening in Liverpool next week that you need to know about.

Liverpool vs Rangers

Liverpool will host Rangers at Anfield on September 4, the Reds have suffered from a stunted start to the season and already trail league leaders Arsenal by nine points. Things were starting to ease up for the Reds just before the international break with a 2-1 win over Ajax.

While it might be difficult to get tickets there will be a host of bars across the city showing the match or you can always watch it at home.

Fleetwood Mac Legend coming to Liverpool

Lindsey Buckingham made his name as part of the legendary Fleetwood Mac and he will be gracing the stage at Liverpool's historic Philharmonic Hall on October 4. With over three decades in the music industry, Buckingham will play a range of hits from his days in Fleetwood Mac to his critically acclaimed solo work in his first ever European tour.

Southport Comedy Festival

The annual Southport Comedy Festival is back for its second year From September 30 to October 16 the seaside town will play host to some of comedy's biggest names including Ed Byrne, Reginald D Hunter, and Al Murray. Plus there are two special charity events planned raising funds for two great local charities Queenscourt Hospice and Southport Flower Show.

National Rail strikes

Some 40,000 Network Rail and train operator workers will go on a weekend strike. RMT set the new date, Saturday, October 8, as part of a long-running dispute over jobs, pay, and working conditions.

The 24-hour action, which will effectively shut down the railway network, will follow two pre-planned strikes already running on October 1 and 5.

Professor Brain Cox Horizons: A 21st Century Space Odyssey tour

On October 3, physicist Professor Brian Cox will be bringing his Horizons: A 21st Century Space Odyssey tour to the M&S Bank Arena, discussing topics including quantum theory, black holes, planetary science and astronomy.
