The warm weather, even if it is fleeting at the moment, is a welcome change for us Brits who are sick of the winter months and looking forward to a bit of heat and sunshine.
Although spring is bringing many of us joy, a change in the weather can actually upset our skin despite dedicated skincare routines to keep dry patches, acne and other annoying blemishes
Sunshine, mixed with rain showers and air conditioning can wreak havoc on your natural barrier, so you might need to adapt your routine to tackle any changes.
Beauty expert Sam Goodman recommends these simple steps to switch up your skincare to keep your skin glowing.

Spring-clean your skincare
Sam, assistant beauty category manager at Holland & Barrett, said: "Spring isn't just about switching up your wardrobe to get ready for the warmth, it's the perfect time to give your skincare and make-up products a spring clean too."
Emptying out your beauty stash might seem daunting but products do expire and spring is the perfect time to clear out last year's expired makeup and skincare.
There's a small jar symbol on all packaging that tell you how long a product should remain after opening it, Sam recommends emptying out anything past its sell by date and recycling the packaging.
He added: "This would also be a good time to think about washing your make-up brushes. Weekly is best, as dirt can build up and cause sensitivity and breakouts.
"The best way to do this, is to allow your brushes to soak in warm soapy water and allow them to air dry on a clean, dry surface."
Lighten the load
If you've been using heavy moisturisers to fight the winter dryness, now is the time to ditch them in favour of lighter options.
Sam explained that "lighter moisturisers and serums to allow your skin to breathe" which can "invigorate your skincare and help your pores feel fresh".
"While it is always a good idea to moisturise and exfoliate your skin, overdoing it could cause your pores to clog and expand," he said.
"With spring comes warmer weather, which could cause your skin to sweat, and not washing this off can contribute to blocked pores, or even blemish-prone skin if not properly cared for."
Keep everything light, even your makeup, and make sure your skin is clean and oil free in the warmer months.
SPF
While lighter moisturisers and serums are advised, SPF is a must as the sun comes out and we spend more time outdoors. Use a dedicated SPF as a base layer over your entire face under makeup, rather than relying on SPF foundations and concealers.
"Come rain or shine, we should all be using SPF 30 on our skin to protect from the sun’s damaging rays, both in winter and summer time," advised Sam.
"It might not seem like we need to wear an SPF daily, but it is one of the best defences we have to protect our skin. If you don’t have one already, upgrade your skincare collection with a high-level SPF which you can call on throughout the day.
"And don’t forget about the lips! They are just as important for sun protection too, which is where the brilliant Dr Organic Lip Balm comes in handy with an SPF 15."
Prepped and polished
During winter, we tend to exfoliate to remove dry patches of skin but don't forget in spring and summer your skin also needs some help from dead skin cell removal.
The beauty expert said: "You needn't be afraid to exfoliate, even if your skin is dry, it is one of the best ways to get rid of waste, dirt, and removing dead skirt from your face.
"Exfoliation helps to clear your skin’s top layer, leading to less dirt, less blemishes and better absorption of your other skin products. What you need to be mindful of, however, is to not overdo it – exfoliating 1-2 times per week is ideal.
"Chemical exfoliators are the way to go and can really help nourish your skin."
Sunshine skin
We all know we should be wearing SPF but Vitamin C is also a major player when it comes to sunshine, so upping your intake and adding it into your skincare is a must.
"While we all love the warmer weather, over exposure to sun rays can stress out the skin– damaging our vital collagen supply and speeding up the ageing process," Sam explained. "Vitamin C, however, helps us fight back and leaves our skin feeling brighter and lighter.
"From supplements to eye creams, Vitamin C is responsible for protecting cells from oxidative stress, maintaining healthy skin, and contributing to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue."
